LORRAINE TAYLOR
From a very young age, Lorraine was fascinated by the beauty of movement and music. Her childhood was spent exploring the body through gymnastics, ice skating and different styles of dance.
In her early twenties, a strong calling to the path of Yoga became the catalyst for many deeper realizations in her life and she left everything behind to follow this call. She has now been a dedicated Yogini and lover of Truth for almost thirty years. She specializes in offering an insightful feminine way of practicing Yoga, bringing forth her love of Tantra and Kashmir Shaivism.
She has also dedicated many years to the study of Jnana (Non-Duality), Bhakti (Devotion) as well as Traditional Hatha Yoga which has led her to discover the depths of the Yogic practice, understanding the beauty of the fluid form while investigating the more subtle layers that exist within us. Ultimately pointing to what lies beyond which is the true meaning of Yoga. Oneness.
Danny Taylor, co-founder, and teacher at One Yoga, started his spiritual journey over a decade ago, studying both Buddhist and Non-Dual literature until he went on his first Vipassana Meditation retreat.
Since then, Danny has never looked back, devoting his life to Self-realization.
Meditation and Yoga have since become part of his daily life, and a day without practice has become unimaginable.
Danny spent the last seven years in Asia practicing, studying, and teaching.
He first began exploring Thailand in 2007 as part of his passion for Muay Thai.
The more time he spent in Thailand, the more he felt drawn to Buddhism.
After attending numerous meditation retreats, Danny felt the need to deepen his understanding of the teachings of the Buddha.
He became a student at The International Buddhist College in Thailand, where he spent one year living with monks, practicing and studying Buddhist teachings.
Although Danny spent the first years of his spiritual journey practicing Vipassana Meditation, he has since explored many philosophies and techniques from different traditions: Non-dual teachings, Hatha Yoga, Zen, Qi-gong, Transcendental Meditation, Kriya Yoga, AYP (Advanced Yoga Practice), and more.
Sergio León Candia holds a Bachelor of Education and is a Physical Education teacher. He also holds a Master of Arts degree in Buddhist Studies from the International Buddhist College, Thailand.
He had his first contact with Eastern Philosophy during his teenage years of martial arts training. In 2008, he dedicated 5 years to travel around the world to work in different areas and learn more about life.
During his stay in Thailand, he went on different Buddhist meditation retreats. Currently, he still researches the Early Buddhist texts and shares Anapanasati meditation.
Sunny did her first Yoga Teacher Training in India in 2010 and, subsequently moved to Koh Phangan to fulfill her dream of opening her own school.
Having lived and worked in both the Eastern and Western world provides Sunny with a well-rounded understanding of people and their aspirations.
She intrinsically merges traditional and modern aspects of philosophy and practice from her life experience.
Her passion for teaching, upbeat personality and humor make her classes and trainings a true joy.
Sunny is a registered teacher with Yoga Alliance (E RYT 500).
Since 2011, she has been teaching in-studio classes and Teacher Training courses (nearly 30 TTCs as a lead trainer) in various subjects.
Trained in Sivananda, Hatha, and Ashtanga Vinyasa and incorporating other styles of yoga in her teaching, Sunny’s classes and trainings have a firm foundation in Hatha and Vinyasa.
She is very passionate about sharing her knowledge with those pursuing a sincere path of physical and mental self-improvement, which can be felt in all her classes.
She is one to challenge her students in just the right amount, mastering a good balance of work and play to encourage them to become the best version of themselves.
Whilst being on a self-healing journey and wandering the world, Yoga has always been Astrid’s main tool to stay healthy, compassionate, and present with whatever presented itself. Residing in ashrams and spiritual communities for many years she founded a teaching “home” in India in 2012 for 5 years before returning back to Koh Phangan.
With over 1500+ Yoga Alliance certified training hours – from which 500 are specific in Yin Yoga and Functional/Subtle Anatomy – her fascination for how the body functions and is able to heal itself with the holistic approach drove her to dive deeper in other therapy forms like Thai Massage, Cranial Sacral Therapy, Ayurveda, Traditional Chinese Medicine combined with Western Science and Psychotherapy.
Inspired by her Yin-masters Paul Grilley, Jo Phee, Sarah Powers, and Bernie Clark, she studied with many teachers in the same lineage digging deeper and deeper into the Functional and Subtle/Holistic approach of Anatomy and Physiology of the Human Being. In a need for even more healing, knowledge and self-development, and a strong desire to combine Science & Psychotherapy with Ayurveda and Yoga, Astrid graduated in 2017 as a Yoga Therapist (IAYT-950).
Astrid loves to share her passion and insights. All her teachings are in harmony with the practitioner’s own body (we are all different!) and from there she is eager to find possibilities together to learn and evolve. This personal approach and attention is the main aspect you will find in all her teachings and in her one-to-one Yoga Therapy sessions.
Another big inspiration and anchor for her own being and teaching is rooted in the concept of “Alignment from Within”, combined with the Breath, Yoga Philosophy, Selfless Service (Karma Yoga), the Art of Devotion (Bhakti Yoga) and Contact Improvisation Dance.
Santosh grew up in the French Alps. His thirst to know himself started early as a climber and studied in neuroscience followed by decades of living in Tibet, India, Thailand, and Australia.
He has over 30 years of extensive knowledge and experience in the practice of Hatha and Tantra yoga, Advaita Vedanta, Buddhism, and the esotericism of the west. He received his Yoga teacher training from S-VYASA Yoga University India, and he is a recognized Inner Sourcing therapist from the Clairvision School. He now lives in Koh Phangan, Thailand where he founded the Dark Retreat Centre twelve years ago.
Santosh has cultivated a unique and colorful state of freedom. For him nothing is in contradiction; proper practice and wisdom, integration and surrender, embodiment of the natural state leads to awakening. He finds balance by alternating solo meditation retreats with being involved in his community. Through his grounded nature, he cultivates and shares his skills as a sustainable builder.
Santosh’s original nature has proven to be conducive to transformation. His lightness and sense of humor bring confidence to the students who find him generous and approachable.
Born in South Africa, Kirstin grew up in Namibia — the land of wild natural beauty. After dancing and taking part in numerous sports, including gymnastics from the age of 4, she graduated as a Costume and Make-up Artist in Film in Cape Town.
During her second year at college, she was introduced to yoga which made an impression on her since it healed her body instead of pushing its limits and allowed a space for her to grow spiritually.
Yoga quickly became her source of rejuvenation after experiencing burnout numerous times from working in the entertainment industry. In 2015, Kirstin left film and media, turning to alternative therapies, starting out as a masseuse and completing her yoga training in 2017 with Recline Yoga Studio in Namibia. This opened the door wider to explore the healing arts through movement, bodywork, breathwork and meditation.
In 2019, Kirstin left Namibia to explore international terrain. She traveled to Bali to study Qigong and completed a Vipassana meditation retreat which marked one of many spiritual awakenings. After 3 months of working as a Massage and Yoga Therapist on a magical private island, Mnemba, off the coast of Zanzibar, she settled down in Koh Phangan, Thailand.
She’s lived in Koh Phangan for 3 years now and is grateful to know that her time at One Yoga is part of an incredible journey that has only just begun. She recently experienced the highlight of her yoga career leading her first Yoga Teacher Training in July 2022. Although teaching yoga is not her sole focus, it is the constant transformative element in the practice that helps her grow and rediscover her true self over and over again.
Kirstin believes that the world is undergoing a major upgrade in consciousness and wants to help guide the ones who are ready to transition to a higher paradigm. She wants to make Yoga accessible to everyone without losing the authentic essence of this sacred, powerful discipline. Kirstin has taught and helped people from all across the board heal and reconnect to their bodies: starting at a mental hospital, massage clients, and teaching yoga in-studio, privately, to tourists, corporates, and professional athletes.
“It is witnessing the transformation of my students and of myself that keeps me returning to the beautiful practice and science of yoga.”

Seasonal information
There are two seasons in Southern Thailand: wet and dry. Although there are two different seasons the temperature on Koh Pha Ngan tends to remain fairly constant year round.
Responsible travel
Thais are generally very understanding and hospitable, but there are some important taboos and social conventions.
Monarchy: It is a criminal offence to disrespect the royal family; treat objects depicting the king (like money) with respect.
Temples: Wear clothing that covers to your knees and elbows. Remove all footwear before entering. Sit with your feet tucked behind you, so they are not facing the Buddha image.
Women should never touch a monk or a monk’s belongings; step out of the way on footpaths and don’t sit next to them on public transport.
Modesty: At the beach, avoid public nudity or topless sunbathing. Cover-up going to and from the beach.
Body language: Avoid touching anyone on the head and be careful where you point your feet; they’re the lowest part of the body literally and metaphorically.
Saving face: The best way to win over Thais is to smile – visible anger or arguing is seen as embarrassing.
Electricity and outlets
Thailand uses 220V AC electricity. Power outlets most commonly feature two-prong round or flat sockets.

Travel insurance suggestions
Travel insurance is always a good idea!
Depending on the policy you go for, it could help with delayed, cancelled or missed flights; theft or damage of belongings, and emergency healthcare.
It’s not the most glamorous part of planning a trip, but it means you can relax knowing that you’ll be covered if anything happens.
FAQs

You will learn to teach Hatha Yoga & Vinyasa Flow and will also be introduced to other styles such as Ashtanga, Yin/Restorative and Pre-Natal Yoga.

The food is based on a vegetarian/vegan diet with a Thai influence and yes, we take food restrictions into account.
What is the maximum number of students on the Yoga Teacher Training Course?
We accept a maximum of 26 students per course.
What is the student to teacher ratio?
We have several teachers covering various subjects in the course. Most classes have one teacher per class. Some asana classes will have an assistant to help with adjustments.
I am a beginner. Can I apply to be a student on your yoga teacher training?
Beginners are welcome, but we recommend at least one year of experience with yoga or meditation. All of the classes we offer are designed to provide safe and balanced instruction for all levels of experience, with an emphasis on bringing each student to their own personal edge – the place where they can physically, mentally and spiritually open and expand the most. We encourage students to listen to their bodies as much as possible and take resting poses whenever necessary.
Do you offer airport pick-up?
The nearest airport is located on the island of Koh Samui, which is a 30 minutes ferryboat ride to Koh Phangan. We do not offer airport or pier transfers; but taxis will be available to take you from Samui airport to any of the Samui piers and to our school upon your arrival at the Thong Sala pier on Koh Phangan.

Sunglasses & Hat: the sun can be very strong, especially between 11am and 4pm.
After sun care, such as Aloe Vera or vitamin E lotion.
Mosquito Repellent: mosquito coils can be purchased locally to keep mosquitoes away from your bungalow porch.
Waterproof Bag: unexpected rain, even during the dry season, can take the fun out of carrying valuables around. Consider bringing a waterproof day bag.
*Please note that all of these items are also readily available to be purchased here on the island.
Are there mosquitoes?
As Koh Phangan is a tropical jungle island, we do have mosquitoes. They are mostly active in the morning between 6:00 & 7:30 am and in the evening between 18:00 & 19:30 pm.
Remember to close your room door and windows during sunrise and sunset hours.

REVIEWS
Tonya
Love all of the staff, I felt they were very accommodating to everyone’s needs in a quick manner. I love each one of the teachers, very knowledgeable. I loved the daily meditation. The food was similar each day but tasty and I love how I feel now at the end, very lite and clean. I love Koh Pha-ngan, an amazing island with like-minded people… the sunsets are beautiful!
This has been the best decision I’ve EVER made! The teachers and facilitators are amazing! Their generosity of knowledge and love cannot be expressed in words. They created an atmosphere unlike any I have ever experienced. The location is beautiful (a real conscious community). The food and accommodation were amazing. You will never regret doing this course (*have no expectations but do look at a sample timetable to be prepared for the long days) Good luck! Loving Kindness.
I spent an incredible month with One Yoga where I not only learned the skills to prepare me to teach, but I also learned much more about the history and philosophy of yoga than I expected. The course was also super well-organized and ran smoothly. Koh Pha-ngan is the perfect size to feel at home during the course, while also having plenty of areas to explore.
Well organized, …my expectations were more than accomplished. Loved the meditation, yoga philosophy and styles of yoga, Hatha/Vinyasa/Yin. Thank you to all the teachers for sharing their knowledge. It was a very special experience. Namaste!.
Very accommodating, so much to learn from everyone. So grateful for the group that we had, from the instructors to the students, everyone was wonderful. Food was great and mostly vegan 🙂 Where we practiced and learned was beautiful and peaceful. The curriculum was heavy but extremely useful! Definitely an intense course but in the best way possible. You won’t regret doing your teacher training here.
My month with One Yoga was simply amazing. What an incredible experience and a beautiful journey it has been! The best choice I could have taken. I loved the island and Shala. The lectures were always super interesting and the yoga classes very beautiful, taught with love and to help you really get deeper in the practice.
I wasn’t sure if I would have been able to sit and meditate for so long but it turned out I loved the meditation in the morning. Amazing teachers, lovely and compassionate, always there ready to listen to you or answer all the questions. The food was also great. The staff and organizers super friendly, always smiling and happy to help. I simply loved it! Thank you One Yoga!! Namaste.
Wow, it’s hard to find words that will do justice to the magic that happens at One Yoga. This month was filled with delicious food, incredible classes taught by caring teachers, and a spiritual journey through the body and the mind. I think one of the best parts about this course is that you are completely immersed in the world of yoga for one month.
You are surrounded by like-minded individuals, learning yoga philosophy and history, taking yoga classes every day, practicing kriyas, detoxing the body, and on an island where your neighbors also live and breathe yoga. It makes spiritual cultivation much easier and the process of detox and a clean lifestyle really help aid the physical body and mind into a more mindful state of being.
I can’t recommend this course enough if you are looking to become a teacher, dive deeper into the world of yoga, or simply to gain greater awareness of yourself. Thank you for the amazing month One Yoga!
I would 100% recommend this program to everyone. The asana classes are really good and the way the schedule is made works perfectly for beginners as well as more advanced students. The anatomy class is tailored for your yoga practice and is really interactive, which I loved. The philosophy class is given in a simple and clear way and will teach you so much about yoga and yourself!
The teachers are really good, they all come from different backgrounds and are very complementary, each of them shares something different from the student which is a real add value to the program. Plus the food is amazing (that was my biggest concern before leaving haha) and the view from the bungalows will give you the motivation to wake up early every morning!
